Skill Development

Graduating from the swim school, you are now ready to take on the higher level skills of the competitive strokes. Improving power and efficiency in freestyle and backstroke, and refining technique for breaststroke and butterfly will be a main focus. Lifesaving skills will continue to be taught, with greater endurance and power underlying lesson plans.

Your pathway to faster and efficient swimming

Stingrays

Stingrays are swimmers who no longer require the assistance of a Water Instructor. These swimmers are learning the basic techniques for proficiency in all four swimming strokes and Individual Medley. Swimmers will also be introduced to correct diving and turning techniques. Students will continue to be guided through water safety skills.

Barracuda

The class will emphasise endurance for swimming and introduce racing techniques, such as racing dives and turns. This will be extended to introduce racing the Individual Medley. Students will continue to be guided through water safety skills.

Sharks

Shark members will learn swimming efficiency and technique in all four strokes and Individual Medley. Classes will also teach starts and turns for competition. These swimmers will be encouraged to compete at school, club and local swimming meets.
